Effective limits

To limit children's exposure to inappropriate media, parents need to take the initiative, says Peter A. Gorski, professor at the Harvard Medical School. Don't be bashful when arranging a play date or sleep-over, for example, to request that no scary, violent, or sexual films be shown. Also, limit your child's use of the Internet to a computer in a family area so you'll have more control over what sites he or she visits. If you're not going to allow your kids to watch a particular television program or film, discuss why. Source: The Boston Parents Paper
