Twenty years later, the mint is blossoming

Slight lavenders
among irrepressible green,
all from a paper-cup sprig
our son once brought
from first grade....
It travels the yard
under fruit trees, along fences.
We wade through its profusions
among raspberry canes:
our shoes hold mint scent
on the porch.
