East Africa Correspondent
Ariel Zirulnick covers East Africa for the Monitor from her base in Nairobi. She also covers the region for Monitor Global Outlook, a global intelligence and research service of the Monitor.
She previously served as Middle East editor, and before that, Europe editor. She was a fellow on the International Reporting Project's 2014 Ethiopia trip and traveled to Berlin in 2011 with the US-German Fulbright Commission as a Berlin Capital Program fellow.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's journalism school with a second major in international studies.
