Reps for the singer told the library she wants to help libraries going through tough times.
For the kids and young adults who know all the words to Taylor Swift songs like “You Belong To Me,” “Love Story,” and “Sparks Fly,” anything the singer-songwriter endorses is the ultimate in cool.
And now that may be reading. Swift recently donated 6,000 books to the local library in Reading, Penn. Her representatives told the library that the singer wanted to help out libraries going through money problems, according to the Associated Press. Reading, which is located near Swift’s hometown of Wyomissing, Pa., has been struggling economically.
Swift worked with children's publisher Scholastic Inc. on the initiative, and the books that were donated were chosen by librarians in the area. Books donated by the singer will have a white star on the book’s spine as well as a sticker on the inside of the book, according to the AP.
Swift was unable to attend the unveiling of the books yesterday.
