Bachmann lists her religious affiliation as Lutheran. Her husband of more than 30 years, Marcus Bachmann, is a clinical therapist, and they own a Christian mental health practice in Minnesota.

They have five children: Lucas, Harrison, Elisa, Caroline, and Sophia, and have also helped parent 23 foster children, all teenage girls.
