This will be a pretty cool show. After all, Don Mischer - the guy who has directed a bunch of Super Bowl halftimes and a couple of Olympics ceremonies - is putting it on.
Note to HBO: Don't put a microphone on him!
Mischer did his best impersonation of Rod Blagojevich back in 2004 at the Democratic National Convention (which he directed) when the balloons didn't drop when they were supposed to. That's all good except for it was all caught live on CNN.
More stars will appear at the Kid's Inaugural ball on Monday night including the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato and Bow Wow. This will be broadcast on the Disney channel from 8:00 - 9:30pm (ET) on the Disney Channel.

One of the little known events could be, in fact, the coolest. And it doesn't have any Bono-like mega-celebrities attending.
It's called the Big Shoulders Inauguration Ball. This unhyped event is being held at the Black Cat nightclub. Sure, it's a ball. But a different kind. One web site recommends attendees wear "formal thrift-store attire".
