Not really. The same Pew study showed that while 99 percent of boys aged 12 to 17 played video games, 94 percent of girls did, too. In 2009, the Entertainment Software Association reported that 40 percent of gamers in the United States are now female – up from 12 percent in 2001. One reason is the proliferation of games focused on music, fitness, and fashion.
