Forget its summers: 'Hotlanta' is one cool city for singles

For single adults wanting a lively social setting, there's no better US city in which to live than Atlanta, according to Forbes magazine. Its editors have chosen Georgia's capital as the most singles-friendly in their eighth annual ranking of the 40 largest mainland urban areas. The ranking is based on such criteria as number of singles, nightlife, culture, cost of living, job growth, online dating activity, and "coolness" as determined by a Harris Interactive poll. Atlanta, which consistently has ranked among the top 10, scores particularly well for its concentration of singles, nightlife options, and robust job market, Forbes says. The best cities for singles, as the magazine grades them:

  • 1. Atlanta
  • 2. San Francisco
  • 3. Dallas
  • 4. Minneapolis
  • 5. Washington
  • 6. Seattle
  • 7. Boston
  • 8. New York
  • 9. Orlando, Fla.
  • 10. Phoenix
