5. If I Can Dream

"If I Can Dream" was written by Walter Earl Brown, it was recorded by Elvis Presley in June 1968. It was recorded two months after Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination, and includes quotes from King. Elvis performed the song with a southern gospel style. The song was covered by Elliott Yamin on American Idol Season 5, and in a special effects "duet " with Celine Dione and Elvis on American Idol, Season 6.
