After recovering from both illness and injury recently, Serena Williams returned to her winning ways at the US Open Tuesday night.

Williams defeated Bojana Jovanovski of Serbia, 6-1, 6-1.

Serena's first-round victory took less than an hour versus the Serb teenager. It's been almost two years since Serena's last appearance in Flushing Meadow. Serena injured her foot after winning Wimbledon last year, followed by illness which kept her off the tennis court until June of this year.

Williams will next take on Dutch player Michaella Krajicek, who's ranked 183 in the world, in the tournament's second round.
