Reagan plan for MX wins a House committee vote
The House Appropriations Committee narrowly approved funds Thursday for production of the MX nuclear missile, giving President Reagan a key victory on the controversial weapon.
An amendment to cut $1 billion for 1983 MX production failed on a 26-to-26 tie vote after intensive lobbying by Mr. Reagan and his top aides. Administration officials said the amendment deleting production funds could have killed the entire MX program. The vote was a victory for the President's new ''dense pack'' plan.
