Gunman charged with threatening Reagans life
A Georgia man was charged with threatening President Reagan's life and with kidnapping Saturday after he crashed a pickup truck into the Augusta National Golf Club, where Mr. Reagan was playing golf, held seven hostages, and demanded to see the President. Charles Harris surrendered after refusing repeated phone calls from the President. Officials stressed that Reagan, who was at the opposite end of the golf course, was never actually in danger.
Two presidential aides were among the hostages trapped for more than two hours in the club's pro shop. Mr. Harris fired a shot, but no one was hurt. A former boss said Harris was fired recently from his job and was ''devastated'' by the passing of his father. Harris was also recently divorced.
