US agents arrest Canadian in computer-export case
A Canadian charged in Massachusetts with violating US export control law was arrested Monday in Miami by federal customs agents, US Attorney William Weld announced here.
A grand jury named Leslie Klein, a native of Czechoslovakia who resides in Ottawa, and others, including five companies and six men from Canada, Switzerland, and Nashua, N.H., in a 23-count indictment. The indictments accuse them of conspiring to transship Digital Electronic Corporation computer systems, parts, and accessories from the United States and Canada to the Soviet Union and other Soviet-bloc countries, including East Germany - a violation of export restrictions.
