US wants to weigh arms cuts, not just agenda, in January
A top State Department official said Monday the United States would like to begin actual negotiations on arms reduction and control in Geneva in January, not just talk about an agenda.
''I think the most important priority is to get the negotiating process under way again,'' said Richard Burt, assistant secretary of state for European affairs, appearing on NBC's ''Today'' program. ''We'd like to get the negotiations started actually in Geneva in January and we will be working to that end.''
