Pursuing daybreak's fickle sky

Your deserted cove is dazzling! Waves breaking into minute, tilting planes toss sunshine from one mirror fragment to another - until a stratus cloud blots out the glare; unrolls one shadow from the far shore to yours here at the basin's west end. A blue heron rising from the reeds retracts his legs, glides through hot yellows quivering between this beach and the horizon, and I recall your wonder at the grace of such ungainly fowl. Once I caught you at your easel splashing paint, pursuing daybreak's fickle sky (discarded sketches piled about your feet), entrapping colors which, until you moved next door, I had not seen.
