THAIS DECIDE TO RETURN REFUGEES TO KHMER ROUGE
Hundreds of Cambodian refugees who fled a camp controlled by communist Khmer Rouge guerrillas will be returned there by Thailand. The Thai military Tuesday announced its decision to move the 600 refugees from a camp run by the noncommunist Khmer People's National Liberation Front.
The Khmer Rouge, widely accused of human rights violations in areas under their control, have asked that the refugees be returned. But the UN Border Relief Operation has insisted the Cambodians be allowed to decide where they want to live. The refugees had fled the camp of Kaiche after it was attacked in mid-April.
