FUJI APPLES TO FEED US

First came Japanese cars. Soon it may be Fuji apples, a Japanese-bred fruit that promises to become a favorite in Washington State orchards, according to Food Business magazine. Grady Auvil, who pioneered Washington production of Granny Smith apples a decade ago is now planting only Fuji's, the trade publication reports.

The Fuji is said to be more crisp, tastier, and more durable than the Red Delicious, the industry standard.
