JAPAN'S OFFICE WORKERS RANK LOW IN USE OF COMPUTERS
GRAND RAPIDS, MICH.
Fewer Japanese office workers use computers than office workers in other countries, according to a survey by Louis Harris & Associates. In Japan, 64 percent of office workers use a computer, compared with 88 percent of workers in Canada, 85 percent in the US, and 80 percent in the European Community.
The survey, sponsored by Steelcase Inc., found that only 9 percent of Japanese office workers said that they use a computer at least five hours a day, compared with 33 percent in the US.
