Why is Christian Science in our name?

Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

The Church publishes the Monitor because it sees good journalism as vital to progress in the world. Since 1908, we’ve aimed “to injure no man, but to bless all mankind,” as our founder, Mary Baker Eddy, put it.

Take your daughter to work

On Thursday, April 22, the Ms. Foundation for Women is sponsoring its annual Take Our Daughters to Work Day, which this year will highlight the role parents play in keeping girls well-adjusted.

The event is aimed at sparking girls' imaginations about possible careers.

Marie Wilson of the Ms. Foundation says it's important for girls to see the "connections between the world of work and their schoolwork."
