Denise joined the Monitor staff in 2015. 

She holds a B.A. in Anthropology from Tehran University and an M.S. in Investigative Journalism from Columbia University. 

Originally from Tehran, Iran, Denise began her career in publishing. Since 2009 she has been working as a journalist mostly writing about the Middle East.

In 2012 Denise was awarded the ONA’s M.J. Bear Fellowship, given annually to three promising early career journalists under 30. She later founded IranElectionWatch.coma recipient of the Online News Association (ONA) 2013 Planned News Coverage Award. 

Denise is interested in international news, with the focus on the Middle East.
