Image 9 of 10

A girl holds a fat ear of corn. Her father was able to raise crops since starting to use a treadle pump to irrigate during the dry season in Malawi. The irrigation project was a program initiated by the Irish NGO Concern Worldwide. The crop sustained a family of eight in an area where people were suffering food shortages.
