Correspondent

Debra Bruno is a Beijing-based freelance journalist and the mother of two children: 26-year-old Daniel and 24-year-old Joanna, both of whom also happen to live in China.

She writes about fashion for Women’s Wear Daily, law firms for the American Lawyer, the arts and literature for The Wall Street Journal’s Scene Asia blog, urban issues for Atlantic Cities, and unconventional energy for Energy Wire.

Before China, she was an editor at Roll Call, Legal Times, and Moment Magazine, all based in Washington, D.C.

She loves cooking, her 14-year-old cat (whom she brought to China), and travel. Her husband, Bob Davis, is an economics reporter for The Wall Street Journal in Beijing.

She recounts the adventures of her life in China on her blog: Not by Occident.
