Tiger Woods pulls out of Players; Glover, Watney share early lead
Tiger Woods teed off early Thursday in the Players Championship. However, a previous leg injury prevented Tiger Woods from finishing the round.
It also marked the return of Tiger Woods to the PGA Tour after roughly a month off, due to a pair of injuries to his left leg. However, the comeback was short-lived. Woods walked off the course after just nine holes, with a scorecard that read six-over par.
The 2001 Players champion indicated later that simply walking the course was bothering him, much less the triple-bogey 7 he carded on the seventh hole Thursday morning.
Earlier this week, Woods found that he'd fallen to the eighth spot on the world golf rankings. He hoped that a strong performance this week and in the coming weeks would prepare him for the US Open in June.
